Welcome to the Linear 5/4 Groove #1 Lesson. So, just as a review, 5/4 time means that we have 5 beats per measure and the quarter note gets the beat. This groove is Linear because no two notes strike at the same time. Now, the groove is one bar long, and based off of 16th notes. So, we have five groups of four sixteenth notes, going on the whole measure. First, we’ll break down the sticking between the hands and feet on the snare drum and the bass drum. Next, we’ll orchestrate that on the kit, and lastly we’ll bring it up to speed!
